We offer professionally guided bear viewing trips. Our bear guide has over sixteen years of near guiding experience, being one of the most experienced bear guides in BC. Actively involved in bear conservation, our professional guide will share his knowledge about these amazing animals with you, as you gain appreciation for these coastal creatures.
Our kayak guides are the most experienced in the Queen Charlotte Islands with over 26 years of guiding in that region. We specialize in sea kayaking tours only to the most remote regions of Gwaii Haanas while using single kayaks.
Ralph Hull, owner and captain of the ROLANO has a 350 (500) ton Master's Certificate from the Department of Transport, ON2 second mate (navigation officer) foreign going unlimited tonnage certificate, wilderness first-aid, food safe level 1 and 11, serving it right, Canadian Yacht Association sailing instructor certificate, and certification far exceeding the requirements for our expeditions.
The ROLANO is a world class heavy weather, well built vessel. Capable of going anywhere in the world in all kinds of weather and has. ROLANO offers more room and relaxation than our competitors both inside and outside on deck. Two heads, with hot showers, private accommodations - no need to pull a curtain for privacy, double and single berths in each accommodation. The engine is a masterpiece of machinery, slow turning, quiet and the base rhythm section of the vessel. We sail and/or motor sail whenever possible. Fine in the salon~ library~lounge with seating for 10.
The ROLANO is certified with Transport Canada SIC 16 certificate (home trade 3 to carry 12 overnight passengers, and home trade 4 to carry up to 40 daytime passengers), although we like to limit the number of guests on extended trips to 8 to allow for lots of room, greater experience, personal attention and small intimate groups.
The ROLANO is one of the only boats in BC recognized by Tourism British Columbia as an approved accommodation, as well as a Food Safe Excellence restaurant facility serving Sushi on Friday and Saturday evenings.
